Creating a Great Future for Northern Colorado!

The Leadership Task Force Fall Schedule

September 21 – 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.  (Windsor Community Center)

Foundation Series Topics – Transportation & Water

Water – Robert Ward, Former Director of the Colorado Water Institute

Robert will offer a unique and historical perspective about water in Northern Colorado and how leaders in the region have worked together to address the critical water issues in the past.  This presentation will demonstrate how past collaboration has brought us the quality of life we enjoy today and provide lessons for preparing for our future.

Transportation – Bob Felsburg, Principal; Felsburg, Holt and Ullevig

Transportation touches each of us every day in many ways.  As the region grows, so too will grow the demands on our transportation system. Bob will discuss the “drivers of change” in the future of transportation and how our values in northern Colorado should shape our approach to providing the transportation system of the future.

Leadership & Readiness – Facilitated Activities

Task Force members will explore leadership issues and the group’s readiness to lead Northern Colorado in creating a vision for the future.

October 19 – 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. (Windsor Community Center)

“How Should We Grow?”

Option 1 – Chips Exercise

Task Force members will have the opportunity to engage their neighbors in “planning” the future of Northern Colorado.  This two-hour exercise involves making consensus-based decisions in small groups.  This engaging and educational exercise will challenge you as we explore future development in the center of our region.

Please note – this exercise is tentative as we are still trying to identify resources to bring in Envision Utah staff to support this important activity and its subsequent analysis. Embrace Northern Colorado is looking for partners to help cover the $10k cost.  If you know of someone who would be interested in providing support, please let us know.

Option 2- Values Project

On August 25th, Embrace launched its Values Project in collaboration with Dr. Jessica Thompson of the Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources at Colorado State. Dr. Thompson and her students will offer design and survey support for exploring key gateway values held by residents pertaining to growth in Northern Colorado.  Task Force members will explore the survey’s purpose, design and have an opportunity to participate through facilitated group activities.

November 16 – 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. (Windsor Community Center)

Task Force to Leadership – Taking the next steps in developing a vision for Northern Colorado.
